2011 Legislator of the Year Award Recipient:
Congressman James E. Clyburn
The South Carolina Public Health Association
is honored to recognize Congressman James E. Clyburn as
the Douglas E. Bryant Legislator of the Year.
The South Carolina Public Health Association (SCPHA) is a
501(c)(3) statewide organization of over 300 public health
professionals. The purpose and goal of the Association is to
protect and promote personal, community and environmental
health; to exercise leadership in health policy development and
action; to provide a forum for matters pertaining to public
health; and to foster scientific and professional development
among its members.
Congressman's Clyburn's commitment and dedication to
improving health in South Carolina and the nation were exemplified
in his support and integral role he played as Majority Whip in the
US House of Representatives in the historic Health Care Reform
Legislation signed into law last year. He has truly distinguished
himself as a trail blazer in Congress and a strong advocate for
public health.
