Public Health Month 2012

2012 Kickoff Event will be

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Arnold School of Public Health Research Center Auditorium, Assembly Street

This event will be co-sponsored by the Arnold School of Public Health, Office of Public Health Practice and the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Through combining our state theme, Public Health: Where do I fit? and our national theme A Healthier America Begins TODAY!, attendees will have a better understanding of our individual and collective roles in public health. Additionally, we will be promoting the national  theme, which highlights strong public health systems across the country, and promotes the concept of the smallest preventive changes and community initiatives lead to big differences in living healthier lives, and promote healthy behaviors in the areas of active living and healthy eating; alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; communicable disease; reproductive and sexual health; and, mental and emotional well-being.

There will be a few exhibits at the event that tie into the state and national themes, as well as one to showcase our Student Forum. This will be an opportunity for all attendees to see what the student forum has done, is doing, and plans to do in support of SCPHA. By working together with other supporting partners, we can provide an event to highlight where we all fit in public health.

Our keynote speaker will be Mr. Forrest Alton, CEO for South Carolina Council to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Other speaker plans are in the works.

Very light refreshments will be served during the networking portion of the event, which will be from 4:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., just before our speakers take the stage.

We hope you will make plans to join us on April 3rd.
