In celebration of Public Health
Month, SCPHA proudly presents "Painting the Future of Public
Health: A Healthier South Carolina One Community at a Time" on
Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the
Columbia Museum of Art. Welcoming remarks will be provided
by President Thompson, followed by opening comments from SCDHEC
Commissioner Earl Hunter, and Deputy Commissioner for Health
Services, Dr. Waddell. We will also have the pleasure of hearing
inspirational words of wisdom from key note speaker Mr. Richard
Hatfield.
Attendees
are encouraged to support two community service projects in
conjunction with Public Health Month. First, the Public Health
Month committee will be accepting donated items for Camp Burnt
Gin. A listing of needed items is attached. Second, the Public
Health Nursing section is sponsoring their annual book drive.
New or used children's books will be accepted for distribution
to various health department clinics and emergency shelters
across the state. Items for both Camp Burnt Gin and books for
the book drive will be collected at the kick-off event.
This will be a great opportunity
for attendees to network with other public health professionals,
as well as with guest exhibitors who will be present to share
various health and environmental information. There will be door
prizes and other items given away, and refreshments will be
served. This event is free and open to anyone with an interest
in the support and promotion of public health in South Carolina.
Please Note: There is metered parking on Main,
Hampton, and Assembly Streets.
